Chairman's Message

Hi members and welcome to the Spring Edition of The Growler Magazine. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new members and returning members.

Our AGM will be held on the 24th of April 2024 at 7.30pm in the Deadman’s Inn, Lucan.

Exciting news for the Club: our new website is now live — irishjagclub.ie. Our new website is another piece towards our rebrand; the first was the launch of our all-new merchandise at the National Weekend hosted by our Club in Waterford in 2022. All new colour green in jackets, caps, and umbrellas matches our new website colour theme. Easier to navigate, easier to join our Club or renew your membership. So easy to see upcoming events and look at galleries of previous events. There is a section on our hugely successful Growler magazine with covers from previous issues.

The Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show aka the Terenure Car Show is a very important part of our Club’s history, and David Roome has kindly offered to write a history of the show, which started with humble beginnings and grew to become Ireland’s premier car show. David’s article will be published on our new website shortly. The website will be expanded over the next couple of months by our webmaster Brendan McCoy.

A big thank you to Brendan, Les, and to Philip Farmer, our website designer, for delivering this project.

This year has also seen the committee, especially Jerry Collins and Brendan, take on the challenge of writing a new constitution and articles of association, along with a good friend of the club Tony O’Connor. The final draft will be ready later in the year for voting on by the membership.

This year will see a very strong calendar of events brought to us by Tom Hudson. We have already had a couple of breakfast runs and our first overnight to Co. Wexford. Don’t forget to look at our new website for upcoming events.

This is my last address as the next committee will be led by a new chairperson. I would like to thank all the committee members for a very enjoyable chairmanship over the last two years and the support of Club members. As I have served on the committee since 2016, I will be stepping away this year and wish the new committee best wishes.

Best wishes,
John McEneff
Chairman
